'Inspiration' is a word from the Romantic era. Personifying or even deifying inspiration and dubbing it the 'Muse' is itself a luxury indulgence inherited from Romanticism. Of course, inspiration doesn't fall from the sky - it begins with tangible and intangible stimuli arising from our everyday life. It's the product of our inner world connecting, colliding, and spreading with the world outside. Even the most abstract, metaphysical thinking is no exception.
(Lee Jang-wook, Writing Alongside Reading)
In a society that, under the name of 'big data,' records every single bit of us and makes it all available for checking and analysis, perhaps that era's 'inspiration' or 'Muse' is needed more urgently than ever.
