For instance, someone else in the organization may have quietly handled work that the award-winner was supposed to do, or that year's social trends may have happened to make their results shine brighter. In that sense, 'if my success is entirely to my own credit, then their failure isn't entirely their fault either.' I think we should all be a little more generous about everything in the world.
