But there's a more fundamental source of my dissatisfaction: 'light.' For posting, I photograph and film the finished breakfast, and 'light' has an absolute influence at that moment. Even at the same time of day, with the same breakfast, the light coming into the house varies hugely with the weather and season. So some days, a breakfast I'm genuinely happy with — the first in a while — ends up looking like the last breakfast from hell, while other days it looks like a warm, comforting bowl conjured by a mother's hands.

An approx. 230kcal light but rich-broth #perillaseedkalguksu made with tofu noodles
I turned down the brightness in the photo and it became a gloomy-looking perilla noodle soup.
1. Boil 600ml water and add the magic powder that gives a rich seafood-flavored broth.
2. Add 2 shiitake mushrooms, scallion, and the wide tofu noodles, and simmer about 5 more minutes.
3. Add ground perilla seeds and 1T tuna sauce, stir well, then ladle into a bowl. Just before eating, top with a sheet of lunchbox seaweed and a bit more ground perilla seeds.
