Heat oil in a pan, sauté the onion, then add store-bought mapo tofu sauce, water, and tofu, and simmer. I taste it - it's spicy. Kind of like a red bean bun with no red bean filling, but since it's breakfast, I decide to add a bit more water and make it a mild-flavor mapo tofu instead. Oh, and two rounds of sesame oil before eating - that's just the unwritten rule. #unwrittenrule
Ingredients
1/2 bowl rice, 1/2 block tofu, 1/2 onion, store-bought mapo tofu sauce, a little scallion, sesame oil
Steps
1. Heat oil in a pan, sauté the minced onion, then pour in the store-bought mapo tofu sauce and 150ml water.
2. Add 1/2 block of tofu cut into cubes and simmer. (Adjust the amount of water to taste.)
3. Plate the rice and pour the mapo tofu from step 2 over it. Top with a little scallion and sesame oil.
