20230413 #breakfastdiary 728, 6°C/mostly sunny, released from COVID quarantine
(During what people call the global pandemic years) over the past few years, whenever a coworker, friend, family member, or neighbor came down with COVID-19, I'd offer heartfelt-sounding words — how hard that must be, hang in there, you'll feel better soon. But now that I've actually gone through it myself, I realize all those well-wishes I gave were, in a sense, empty — meaning, pain you haven't lived through, you can't really understand. Maybe this is what Shin Hyung-cheol meant when he said you can only truly know someone else's pain and sorrow by studying and experiencing it yourself.
With my sense of smell still not back and barely able to taste anything, this felt like a bit of fresh-stimulation therapy.
