It was founded by people who came together around one goal: 「to build a public forum for exchanging diverse opinions on important issues, and to create a sustainable media ecosystem.」 (From an experiment in sustainable media, Jung Hye-seung, CEO of Alookso) Not long ago I happened to browse #Soprize — a data-driven writing competition platform — and came away genuinely impressed. It was only today that I learned Soprize was actually Alookso's very first project. "No matter how faithfully media fulfills its social responsibilities, media is still a business at the end of the day, so there has to be a market of readers or advertisers willing to support it" — I'm cheering for that argument, and for a team chasing a new, sustainable kind of media built for a new era.
