Notes

20260115 #breakfastdiary day 1615, 3°C/cloudy “People still prefer human experiences — things like dating, cooking, hobbies. It's just that the way we do them has changed. Outsourcing. We've handed the experience itself off to someone else.” Take an example. We get hooked on reality dating shows precisely because of this — we find pleasure in watching other people's emotions play out. We even outsource 'how we're supposed to feel' by watching the panel's reactions. Watching chefs painstakingly cook on video while I eat convenience food is the same thing. Both our emotional experience and how we consume food, clothing, and shelter have been handed over to someone else. (Christine Rosen, The Extinction of Experience: for you, staring at a square screen instead of the world in front of you, @longblack.co) Fujiwara Hiroshi said food is the last analog thing left to humans — makes me wonder if even that is now under threat. 650kcal Thai Tea Chia Pudding, aka #ONO (overnight oats, minus the oats), made from Thai tea chia seeds soaked overnight, topped with Greek yogurt and coconut slices

Ingredients

4 Thai tea tea bags, 1/2 cup chia seeds, 1 1/2 cups coconut milk, 2T maple syrup, 1-2T Greek yogurt, a little shredded coconut

Steps

1. Prepare 1 packet of Thai tea powder (or 4 tea bags) and steep in 1/2 cup boiling water. 2. In a bowl, combine 1/2 cup chia seeds and 2T hemp seeds, pour in 1 1/2 cups coconut milk, and mix well. 3. Add 2T maple syrup and the steeped Thai tea from step 1, mix well, and refrigerate overnight. 4. Spoon the thickened Thai tea chia pudding into a bowl and top with Greek yogurt and coconut slices.
