The name "sardine" is said to come from the Italian island of Sardinia. A small fish, but packed with omega-3 and calcium. In France, canned sardines are apparently aged like wine and sold by vintage year - but the can of sardines used in today's breakfast disappeared in an instant, with no time to age at all.
