Boil pasta thoroughly, rinse in cold water, drizzle with olive oil, and toss well. Plate it together with the prettiest cherry tomato marinade in the world, made the night before and left to sit in the fridge. #coldtomatopasta
What we miss is, for the most part, irreplaceable. If it could easily be replaced, there'd be no ache in missing it. While you're in love with something, you come to know every last detail of it—what sets it apart from everything else, and why, even if it looks ordinary at a glance, it turns out to be the only one of its kind in the world. From then on, it can never become ordinary again, because it has become specifically, irreducibly itself.
Of course, what we long for can be a lover, a wish, some large or small goal in life, or, sometimes, a utopia.
