Apricots are in season. Plate apricots, cherry tomatoes, and ricotta cheese in a nice arrangement. For the apple mint, you have to place it in your palm and clap-smash it before laying it on top—that's how the aroma spreads gently. A little olive oil, white balsamic, and pepper. #apricotsalad
Regarding Jeju's second airport, statistics from the Jeju Tourism Association show that annual visitors to Jeju, which stood at 2 million in 1988, surpassed 5 million in 2005, topped 10 million in 2013, and broke 15 million in 2016. That's excessive when you consider that Hawaii—more than 15 times the size of Jeju—draws only around 9 million visitors a year (as of 2016).
(Lee Jong-gyu, Jeju's Second Airport and Appropriate Tourism)
The conclusion is that we need #appropriatetourism that doesn't cross ecological limits—tourism that recognizes proper limits and uses proper means, methods, and technology. Of course, before any of that, there needs to be a determined, rigorous agreement on what 'appropriate' even means. Without that resolve, there's no such thing as 'appropriate.'
*Appropriate technology (AT) refers to technology designed with a community's cultural, political, and environmental context in mind. (Wikipedia)
*There doesn't seem to be a settled definition of 'appropriate tourism' yet.
