Ravioli

20220728 #breakfastdiary 508, 26°C/clear, 11min/exercise (This clearly wasn't #ravioli, and yet dumpling-shaped pasta filled with ricotta and spinach—what else could you call it but ravioli? Even so, for the life of me I couldn't remember the actual name, so for now, let's just call it a pronoun—) blanch "the thing" in boiling water, then toss it in a pan with olive oil, pesto, and a splash of pasta water, plate it, and grate on plenty of parmesan. Starting the day with the sound of a pencil being sharpened felt just as fitting at the Kita-Aoyama house as it did at the summer cottage. Once I tried it, it really did seem like the perfect first task of the morning. Like the smell of coffee brewing, the scent of pencil shavings slowly wakes a mind still fogged with sleep.
