20210701 #breakfastdiary 136, 22°C/foggy, 30 min/exercise I split a peach in half and twist it apart, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. A little blue cheese, olive oil, and pepper. A #peachsalad to open up July. For Aristotle, the highest form of rest would be imitating divine pleasure. God is a being who enjoys unmoved pleasure — remaining still while setting all things in the world into motion. Didn't he, at the very beginning, simply look at that world and call it 'good'? Divine pleasure lies within 'unmoved stillness.' That's why humans imitate divine pleasure through bodily stillness — meditation, facing a wall in silent practice — and share in that divine rapture in moments of deep, absorbed prayer. (Kim Yong-seok, 'Vacation: All the Way to Unmoved Stillness') I thought for a moment about 'unmoved stillness.' Not the kind you can only reach through advanced training like meditation, but the kind any of us can slip into easily — isn't that just #unmovedstillness, or in other words #zoningout? Reading up on the various theories of zoning out only made me more convinced of it.
