Brown Cheese Apple Open Sandwich

20210622 #breakfastdiary 127, 20°C/mostly clear I set bread in the pan and turn on the stove. It's already buttered bread, so I don't butter the pan. There's still plenty of romaine left. I pull two leaves off the stalk and rinse them under running water. One leaf will probably be enough. I smell the bread starting to catch, so I flip it with my fingers. A little hot. Not burnt, though. I cut an apple in half, core it, and slice it thin. The bread seems toasted enough, so I pick it up and set it on a plate. Hot, but bearable. I shake the water off the romaine and lay it on the bread. I arrange the sliced apple neatly on top. I lay down a slice of the brown cheese I bought last week. The apple disappears underneath it. I turn it 45 degrees, and only then does the apple peek through. I pick up the honey and pour it on. For a moment I watch the slow, trickling path of the honey. I think of walnuts and almonds. I scatter a few almonds on top. Let's eat quickly.
