Screen Time, Netflix, and Endive Salad

2020-10-15

Notes

20201015, checking my #screentime, I was apparently glued to my phone (a staggering) 6 hours and 16 minutes a day on average. Excluding sleep, that's roughly a third of my entire day handed over to my phone. Just like Tristan Harris says — that the pull-down-to-refresh design of social media, where you drag your finger down the screen looking for something more entertaining, works exactly like a slot machine — I, and all of us, keep refreshing our phone screens every day chasing a stronger hit. Even right now. #netflix #thesocialdilemma Thinking of that sad story about a flight attendant at Airline K who got pulled from first-class duty after serving a dish with endive to a chairman who'd asked for it to be left out — because she didn't know what endive was (or didn't realize it was hidden in the salad) — I thoroughly seared #endive on both sides in a pan with fragrant butter, then finished with pepper, parsley, and a little balsamic. #endivesalad #salad #breakfast #looksliketinynapacabbageatfirstglance
