"Sumbisori" is the whistling sound haenyeo (women divers) make when they surface after diving and catch their breath. It sounds almost like whistling, and it's the natural sound that comes from expelling a lungful of carbon dioxide all at once while gasping in oxygen. On my commute this morning, after a while away from it, I let out a light breath and it almost sounded like a whistle too.
470kcal squid and orange salad
Ingredients
1 squid, 1 orange, a little fried shallot and crown daisy, (dressing) 2T olive oil, 1T white wine vinegar, lemon juice
Steps
1. Peel the orange with a knife and remove just the flesh.
2. Pick off only the leaves of the crown daisy and chop with a knife.
3. Clean the squid thoroughly, blanch in boiling water, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
4. Heat olive oil in a pan, add the squid, and sear for 2-3 minutes. Pressing it down with a grill press works well too.
5. In a mixing bowl, combine the seared squid, fried shallot, orange flesh, and chopped crown daisy, and mix evenly. Add vinaigrette dressing and a little lemon juice.
