Corn and Blueberry Salad

I want to live in a free and equal one. 'Fair' is a word you use to describe a deal or a fight. Fair love, for instance, isn't love at all — only free and equal love is love. A fair parent or a fair state is a frightening thing. I dream of a society overflowing with love. I want a Korea with no winners and losers. (omitted) Korean society keeps going today not because of the competitiveness of politicians drunk on their own self-regard, but because of quiet, capable people of love who tend to others' anxieties and wounds without saying a word. Fair or not fair — the ghost, or frame, called 'fairness' keeps drifting through Korean society. As he puts it, if fair com.pe.ti.tion was always, from the start, just the winner's definition of justice, then maybe that whole debate doesn't mean much.
