Watching how we marvel at Holbein's paintings and admire fine detail, it seems we have some instinct that craves reproductions faithful to reality. But such high-resolution, vivid reproductions, while they can overwhelm us, don't always guarantee the finest representation. Sometimes a low-resolution reproduction riddled with gaps draws the viewer's imagination into those very gaps and reveals a deeper truth instead.

The power of low resolution - maybe it's something like the analog cry rising up in a digital world blanketed entirely in 0s and 1s. It brings to mind a line from Broccoli, You Too's song about #graduation.
Boil the gnocchi in water, toss with olive oil, then add the prettiest tomatoes in the world, shrimp, and prosciutto, with parmesan cheese and a vinaigrette dressing. #gnocchisalad
