Doctors don't emphasize sleep, diet, and exercise for no reason. Those three are the easiest and most fundamental way to conduct the hormone orchestra. Just do them, and you can get through the day feeling good without chasing extreme dopamine hits.
Ahn Chul-woo, "Balancing Dopamine: Have you been snacking every night? It's not your fault", Longblack @longblack.co
Humans can get motivated and take on challenges through the neurotransmitter dopamine, but just as much, maybe even more, they need melatonin from quality sleep, endorphins from proper exercise, and serotonin released under the morning sun.
And to produce all these neurotransmitters and hormones, you need a balanced intake of both animal and plant protein — so starting this new year, I'm resolving to eat well, even more diligently.
To put that into practice right away: low-carb, high-protein from both animal and plant sources, plenty of vitamins and minerals from a variety of vegetables, healthy fat from sesame oil, and balance from lemon juice — stir-fried #cauliflowerrice (written as cauliflower rice but really should be read as just "cauliflower")
1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion; once translucent, add the minced bell pepper, minced garlic, and peas, sauté, then add sesame oil.
2. Add the prepared cauliflower and stir-fry.
3. Add the egg and soy sauce, stirring until the egg is cooked through.
4. Season with salt to taste, then add lemon juice to balance the flavor.
5. Plate it and finish with parsley.
