The word 'charida' (to set/prepare) has many uses in Korean. 'Setting the table' (밥상을 차리다) means arranging bowls and utensils, laying out rice and side dishes neatly, and getting everything ready to eat. Setting up a shop takes care of countless details. Packing for a trip is also described as 'getting ready.' Gathering scattered things, bringing order to them, putting them into the state they ought to be in — that process of moving from disorder to order, from unpreparedness to readiness, is what 'charida' means. No table sets itself without hands and feet moving. You have to get up and move.
When this word turns inward, toward the invisible, it becomes '정신을 차리다' (to come to one's senses/pull yourself together) — meaning to regain lost consciousness, or to straighten out a foggy mind and attitude into sound judgment. Whether it's bodily energy or mental focus, it's the act of firmly regathering whatever has been lost or scattered. So 'coming to one's senses' is the first step in ending confusion and returning to normal.

After waking up and 'coming to my senses,' 'setting' the breakfast table, and 'getting ready' for work, I head out feeling the world's pace slowed down by roughly 5km thanks to last night's snow.
