Add the well-cleaned mussels, pour in a splash of wine, and let it simmer. Drop in butter and cream, then after a moment, sprinkle in sliced chives, cover, and wait. Transfer to a plate, eat the mussels, and mix rice into the milky broth left behind. #musselstew The smell of cold air could be called "the smell of empty space." Cold air dulls our sense of smell and stimulates the trigeminal nerve (the one that responds to menthol or onions). Because energy is drained away, air molecules calm down and scent molecules spread less. Since fewer smell molecules get picked up, we come to remember that cold, refreshing feeling — and the more we do, the more sensitive we become to it. Ba, Cold Dawn (Twitter) Scientifically speaking too, the smell of winter is said to be "the smell of no smell." Coming outside after a while, I can smell winter strongly even through my mask. Just like the opening line of a certain famous author's novel: "To me, winter was a smell."
