I was given some dried pollack strips as a gift about a month or two ago, and while figuring out what to do with them, I made this Korean-style dried pollack floss to celebrate coming back from a business trip, and topped it over rice. There's a scene in Midnight Diner about "cat rice" — rice topped with bonito flakes — this is a similar but different kind of fun, one-bowl breakfast.
1. Dampen 20g dried pollack shreds with a bit of water, then blend. No need to blend too fine, since it needs to clump.
2. Add salt, 1/2t sugar, and 1t sesame seeds, mix well, and shape into balls.
3. Put rice in a bowl, drizzle with 1T tsuyu and 1T sesame oil, top with the fluffy pollack floss, and add a bit more sesame seeds.
