Blanch the broccoli in boiling water. Soft-boil the egg. Brush the dust off the mushrooms and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Crush and mince 1 clove of garlic with a knife. Mix 1 part soy sauce and 2 parts balsamic to make the sauce. Prep is done. Heat olive oil in a pan and sauté the mushrooms, then add the minced garlic and sauce and sauté a bit more, then add the broccoli and sauté a little longer. Plate the lettuce, mushrooms, broccoli, and boiled egg, and finish with olive oil and a good amount of pepper~ Mayor Oh Se-hoon's Nodeul Island project is nothing more than tourism infrastructure that has nothing to do with the daily lives of Seoul's citizens or the city's sustainable future. Daily life is repetition, but tourism is something you visit once, take a photo of, and leave. Because it has no repeat visitors, accessibility and usability were probably never even considered in the first place. If Heatherwick's winning design actually gets built, it'll flood Instagram for a while, but it won't be long before it becomes just a structure people only look at from a distance. (This particular design is crude as a piece of architecture, too.) It might reel in foreign tourists who came because of Instagram, but it won't leave them with a good impression. Imagine getting off the subway, walking 800 meters under the blazing sun, waiting forever for an elevator, and then standing on a 20-meter-high aerial walkway getting hit by a biting river wind. It's genuinely absurd. (Writing by architect Nam Sang-mun)
