The idea of 'work-life balance' assumes that daily life is made up of exactly two elements — work and life — and that a successful life requires those two elements to reach perfect equilibrium. That premise ignores the truth that we live inside something complex, shifting, and always in progress. I don't agree with the implication buried in the phrase that balance is inherently superior to imbalance. (Source: Mariana Alessandri, on why balance isn't always the answer)
Offbeats, syncopation, scat — things that step outside of balance are exactly what enrich not just music, but this whole world.
Heat olive oil in a pan and toast the bread on both sides. (It's a Paris Baguette multigrain loaf, denser than sourdough, so the texture is a bit different.)
Trim mini asparagus stalks and pan-roast them in olive oil with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Lay burrata on the bread, top with olive oil and the asparagus, and finish with a sprinkle of everything-but-the-bagel seasoning.
