Sukara, Tomatoes, and Burrata

Notes

20201029, someday, days like these will never come to us again. Waking up early one dawn by chance and marveling at the beauty of the red glow rising in the sky, feeling the day imprint itself anew; or looking up at the deep blue sky on the walk home in a drizzle too light to bother with an umbrella; or a tall tree overhead holding raindrops on its leaves until they drip down onto your face, one by one. (Albi, the Child Raised on Goat's Milk) I saw the news that #sukara is renewing itself — for various reasons, apparently transforming into an eco-friendly takeout-only shop. Sitting at that well-worn wooden table, trading warm, sometimes awkward, sometimes thrilling conversation over a meal — 'that time' turned out to be the last time. And a last time always cuts deeper, precisely because you never know it's the last time while it's happening. *Still, I think Sukara has transformed for the better. Slice the #tomato crosswise and lay the pieces out neatly, top with pretty #burrata, a little good olive oil, and pepper. #tomatosalad #breakfast #breakfast #breakfasttable #breakfast #salad
