It's the kind of everyday thing anyone might go through, but somehow, once it passes through their hands, it becomes a more entertaining, more satisfying piece of writing. My writing teacher called that 'writing by a hand that has been warmed up.' Writing, she said, is actually done not with the head or the heart, but with the hand—and only a hand trained through repeated writing can produce stable, sturdy sentences. I know someone like that.
