Notes

20201026, Rather than first building up a labor force to spend decades down the line, the real starting point of a virtuous population cycle is making sure the labor force already alive gets to keep functioning well for much longer. That's also where the true use of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies like AI and robotics lies. If life becomes more rewarding and comfortable for the elderly and for women, the birth rate will slowly stir back to life. Solving low birth rates shouldn't be the first button to fix the population problem - it should be the destination. We've got it backward. (Kwak No-pil, How Do We Meet an Era of Elderly Without Children?) According to Statistics Korea, starting next year (2021), Korea's population will begin to decline. But considering that globally, falling birth rates are linked to poverty reduction, gender equality, and digitalization - and that it's actually a positive for climate change and food supply - there's no need to despair outright. If low birth rate and an aging population are simply unavoidable, maybe it's time to stop fixating solely on birth-rate incentives and shift our perspective instead. Top freshly washed #kelp with #shrimp (prepped the night before) seared in a pan, then finish with an olive oil, white wine vinegar, whole grain mustard dressing, dill, pepper, and a little lemon juice. #shrimpkelpsalad #breakfast #breakfastfood #salad #kelpsalad #myFrenchstylesalad (Aside) It's a cold one. A mouthful of salty kelp hits me square. But don't worry - a bowl of rice covers the saltiness right up.
