(Feels a bit dated to still be citing Webster's, but,) apparently Webster's word of the year is "Polarization." Defined as a split into two starkly contrasting opposites — specifically, a state where a society or group's opinions, beliefs, and interests concentrate only at the two extremes. Guess this isn't just our country's problem. I wanted to close out the year calmly, but the surrounding circumstances won't allow it.
