"Korean men ask each other's age in any gathering, in order to establish a hierarchy. An 'equal relationship' makes both sides uncomfortable. In moments like this, nothing is as convenient as a strong, dictatorial power. It's the sensibility of getting used to equality that builds democracy."
Hwang Hyun-san, There Is So Much I Don't Know
I keep Hwang Hyun-san's book close by and flip through it now and then. Even a tweet from a full 10 years ago still feels fresh.
A familiar recipe, but plated in a new way — 385kcal green onion salad

2. Heat olive oil in a pan, add the green onions, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and cook slowly over low heat.
3. Meanwhile, boil the egg.
4. Arrange the green onions neatly on a plate, top with the soft-boiled egg, and drizzle with vinaigrette dressing.
5. Finish with grated Meat Lokaal @meatlokaal salami and pepper~
