There's the 10,000-hour rule, which says you need at least 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert in a field, but recent studies suggest practice alone isn't what makes the best. For instance, in chess, factors like intelligence and working memory, and in sports, things like oxygen utilization rate, matter just as much as practice volume. Still, for an amateur, the starting point is practice volume after all.
Started an exercise called mountain climbers on 7/28, and today, 11/5, marks day 100. It's a move where you repeatedly pull your knees alternately toward your chest in a plank position with arms extended, like climbing a mountain quickly — very cost-effective in a lot of ways.
The results after 100 days? If you search around, there are tons of dramatic mountain climber before-and-after videos, but that's someone else's story. Our bodies aren't built to change that easily. I'm content just to have found a kind of #mycompanionexercise to stick with for life.
Butternut squash tastes great but there's just so much of it, no matter how much you eat it never seems to run out. Thought maybe I should treat it like a companion squash(?).
Today it's roasted butternut squash and basil pesto with a hummus-like butter bean dip
Ingredients
1/4 butternut squash, 2 cups butter beans, 1 clove garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice, a little basil pesto
👉Like this
1. Heat a pan with olive oil, season with salt salt, pepper pepper, and roast the butternut squash. Meanwhile
2. In a blender, combine the butter beans, salt, pepper, and lemon juice and blend to make the butter bean dip. Adjust the consistency by adding water little by little.
3. Plate the butter bean dip, top with the roasted butternut squash and basil pesto.
