What's the most important thing to learn in first grade? Learning the basics of community life. First grade especially is a time when kids need socialization, so it takes more adjusting than other grades.
(omitted)
The socialization process for kids isn't pretty. There's more struggle, difficulty, and hardship than anything else. The child themselves has it hardest, harder than either parents or teachers, because friends don't always respond the way you'd hope. :) You wonder why a friend reacts that way when that's not what you meant at all — it stings. When conflicts happen, it feels unfair. Even the teacher seems not to understand how you feel. Kids grow up little by little, living through days like these.

Socialization isn't something you only go through in first grade.
On a morning when the fridge is empty and everything feels like too much effort — #applebrietoast
1. Place bread in a heated pan and toast both sides in olive oil until crisp.
2. Lay brie cheese on the bread and torch it. Top with apple and (to hold the walnuts in place on the apple) honey and walnuts
