Shin Hyung-cheol's #sorrowstudyingsorrow explores the many different faces of sorrow's inner life, so I wanted to recommend it to anyone currently facing sorrow (or bracing for it). It struck me that this book could serve almost like a scapegoat, helping to manage that sorrow.
As it happens, the book opens with an essay on the film #thekillingofasacreddeer — probably not his intent, but the film's motif traces back to the story of King Agamemnon, who offers his own daughter as a sacrifice to the goddess Artemis before heading off to war. Of course, that's just my own take, much like today's guacamole recipe.
Mash 1 avocado with 1 tsp lime juice, salt, pepper, and 4-5 tomatoes (halved and seeds squeezed out), to make guacamole, and serve alongside tempeh pan-seared until nice and nutty.
