The Waldorf salad first appeared in 1896 in The Cook Book by Oscar of the Waldorf. (omitted) Over the years, this salad became one of the most popular dishes in America. In Cole Porter's musical Anything Goes, in the number "You're the Top," the singer compares their lover to all the great things in the world: "The smile on the Mona Lisa, Fred Astaire's dance steps, Mickey Mouse, Mahatma Gandhi... and the Waldorf salad."
(Albert Jack, Gastronomicon)
The story of its origin is grand, but when you actually taste a Waldorf salad, it naturally brings to mind the familiar name "sarada" (a homestyle Korean-style salad) you can easily find nearby.
Since the flavor is so familiar, I put extra effort into the visuals for #waldorfsalad
Wash apple, grapes, and celery thoroughly, shake off the water, and trim into bite-sized pieces.
Mix 4 of mayonnaise, 2 of lemon juice, and 1 of Greek yogurt to make the dressing.
In a bowl, combine the prepped ingredients, walnuts, and dressing, and mix well.
Pack the ingredients into a mousse ring (pressing down little by little).
