In the American South there's a dish called fried green tomatoes — literally, unripe green tomatoes coated in batter and deep-fried. There's always a reason for using unripe tomatoes as an ingredient. For instance, there are records saying it was a way to use up leftover tomatoes at the end of summer during the Great Depression.
Honestly, I'm more familiar with the movie Fried Green Tomatoes than the dish itself. I remember watching it once but couldn't recall the story, so I'm bingeing it now while eating fried green tomatoes.
Actual green tomatoes were hard to find, so #friedgreentomato using kumato tomatoes, which have that green-tomato feel
First, mix 2 of mayonnaise, 2 of sour cream, 2 of lemon juice, 1 of chopped parsley (leaves only, stems removed), 1/2 of garlic powder, salt, and pepper to make the dressing. It's ranch dressing. (If it's too much trouble, you can simply mix mayonnaise with lemon juice instead.)
Prepare three plates: 1. frying flour, 2. frying flour batter (75g frying flour mixed with 100ml water), 3. breadcrumbs.
Cut the tomato, coat in order through 1, 2, 3, then deep-fry until golden.
Plate it and serve with the dressing on the side.
