Strawberries with Balsamic

I once was startled by the price of balsamic vinegar displayed at a department store. It makes sense, though, once you learn that true balsamic is made by aging grapes for 12 to 25 years or more, moving them through a series of wooden barrels along the way. I'm curious what that authentic balsamic tastes like — so different from the wine vinegar or caramel-added 'balsamic-style' vinegar you can easily grab at the supermarket. A morning where I enjoyed my strawberries and, out of nowhere, found myself thinking about balsamic vinegar.
