'Alternative meat? Oh, that? #beanmeat?'
That used to be the typical reaction to #alternativemeat. It mimicked the texture and aroma of real meat, but fell well short of expectations — though the category has come a long way in just the past few years.
Overseas, #BeyondMeat and #ImpossibleFoods have already been supplying alternative meat to chains like KFC and Burger King for years, and domestically, companies like Shinsegae Food and Pulmuone are expanding the market too — not just the alternative meat itself, but restaurants built around it.
Microwave Shinsegae Food's #luncheonkimchiricebowl for 2 minutes 30 seconds. Even though it already comes with a slice of luncheon meat, I slice up a piece of #plantbasedluncheonmeat, pan-fry it, and add it on top anyway.
Of course it's tasty just like that, but after a bite with the chopped chives and luncheon meat, I remember the sesame oil I forgot to add, and stir that in too.
